Kleenex #sharethesoft "Not watching the game" girl’s night in! #cbias @kleenex

So if you have been paying attention (even just a little) you know that I’m not a huge fan of football, I missed out on that chromosome (and all the other sporting genes too)…….Yes, I’m genetically flawed.
This leaves me in quite the predicament since my husband is genetically predisposition to click back and forth between any televised sporting event and ESPN news all 12 months of the year.
Okay, so I’m gonna shock you!
I didn’t watch the big game yesterday ……Gasp, I know it’s completely un-American.
I may check-in for a commercial or two but the closest I usually get to the game is beer, snacks, and an occasional obscenity (no game really even needed for that).
Usually when the football feends invade, you will find me, my laptop, and my hot-sauce, streaming movies and of course sampling the game-time goodies. This year instead of hiding away, alone….yet, again, my girlfriends and I had our own “not watching the game” girl’s night in.
In throwing it all together I headed to Walmart; on my list of things to get was the ingredients for some “not watching the game” sangria fixings:

Sangria Lucy Style
1 bottle (750 milliliters) Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon
1-2 cups club soda
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 sliced orange
1 sliced lemon (sometime I use lemon juice instead)
2 tbsp Brandy (I do about 2 shots)
1-2 tbsp Triple Sec (again with the shots)
Ice cubes

Directions: Slice orange and lemons about 1/4 inch thick, set slices aside. Dissolve sugar into boiling water along with orange and lemon heals. Remove from heat once sugar dissolves. Squeeze in excess juice from heals, discard heals. In a pitcher, stir the wine, soda, orange/ lemon slices, brandy, triple sec and sugar mixture. Serve over ice. Yield: 9 servings.

Optional ideas: A shot of tequila addition/instead of the triple sec or a splash of OJ or Pineapple juice for a more citrus flavor. Add additional fruits such as strawberries, pineapple, pears, or whatever tips your glass!

Once I saw all the Valentine’s Day chocolates ready for gifting, I of course had to gift myself :0)
After getting more than my fair share of all things chocolate, I started my run…..nail polish, lotion, nail files, toe separators, and Kleenex.
I’m a bit of a tissue snob, so when I say Kleenex, I mean Kleenex….everything else is just paper. Kleenex is a staple around here, I doubt there is a day that passes without my reaching for at least one, it’s an essential component for boo-hoo movies, makes for great polish cleanup, makeup removal and an occasional runny nose.
This trip, Kleenex had a $4 voucher for Vudu.com, a movie streaming service that I have been considering switching over to. I don’t get time to watch a lot of movies, my full-time school/mom/chuffer/maid/handyman/wannabe blogger schedule doesn’t allow for it. I don’t have cable in my room but with my laptop and newly purchased Ruku, I don’t really need it….I’ve been paying for a movie streaming service but get irritated when I pay for a month of movies and didn’t even watch one.
The voucher was a great way to explore Vudu as another option…turns out that I made the switch. After taking a peek at the Vudu website and finding that you only pay for what you use and movies are available waaayyyy sooner than the other site (about 28 days faster, as in the same day they are released....what a concept), and I can stream to all my devices: tablet, laptop, Ruku, the man-child’s gaming system, and even my WiFi blu-ray player, no membership fees, a free account,  and a discount for new-comers (that’s me!).
While we did our girl thing, I sipped my wine, devoured my beloved Ferrero Rochers, let the mask dry, and signed up for my Vudu account….took longer for the mask to dry.
We washed out faces, rinsed our hair, loaded up our grub, clicked on a classic…Ghost (you know I love a sappy love story), and passed around the Kleenex (gotta share the soft).
Everything polar football opposite (though we still stole the game time goodies)….manis, pedis, facials, hair, chocolate, and a sappy boo-hoo movie , your own box of Kleenex movie…y’all it was just what this nose in the books, living and breathing research  PhD seeking girl needed!

Ahhh…yes, being a girl is a beautiful thing! See more pictures of our night in my Google+ Album

Keep up with all the soft by connecting with Kleenex

I am more interested in the commercials than the game but happy the Ravens won. I like your girls night idea....need something to balance that testosterone! Thanks for the heads up on the Kleenex deal!

I love all your pretty serving trays with the choccies and drinks! What a great idea to have a girl's night of fun since you're not into football!

Sounds like you had a great day. I don't like football either, but lucky for me, neither does my boyfriend.
